PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Peru. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Isabel II. PCGS Genuine--Damage, VF Details Gold Shield; Countermark: XF Details.
KM-138.4; Basso-43; Gil Crown variety-5-4-1. Type VI crowned Y.II. within circular indent on a 1831-CUZCO G Peru 8 Reales. An attractive collectable example of the type on a somewhat SCARCE host coin. The countermark is bold and slightly off center with easy identification as 5-4-1 pearly sequence. Upon close inspection this cataloger is unable to find the noted "Damage" indicated on the PCGS insert, though there is a small area of natural planchet defects at 11 on the obverse. Otherwise a decent example of the type displaying rich mottled gray and slate patina giving it a nice appearance.

Estimate: $200.00- $300.00
