Zambia Bank of Zambia 5 Pounds ND (1964) Pick 3a PCGS Superb Gem Unc 67 PPQ. After independence from Great Britain, The Bank of Zambia ordered the same three denominations of banknotes used during the colonial period. The general color schemes were similar, but the designs on each side were new and specific to Zambia. The £5 is the highest denomination of the series, and only three prefixes were used, C/1 to C/3. A wildebeest graces the front of this note and Victoria Falls is portrayed on the back. At the time of cataloging, this banknote is graded two points higher than the highest graded example to be sold in auction. Likewise, this example is also two points higher than the finest graded example in the PMG Population Report. An iconic type and extremely rare in the best of grades. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/zambia-bank-of-zambia-5-pounds-nd-1964-pick-3a-pcgs-superb-gem-unc-67-ppq/p/4028-45012.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4028 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
