In this instance, that general rule applies. Only four issued 500 Pesos have sold in public auction since 2011, which proves how scarce this denomination actually is. Most extant examples were discarded after the Spanish American War, as the issuing bank closed and did not pay out gold or silver for redeemed banknotes.
