We sent photos of this coin to Andrew McCabe for his observations: "It's unofficial, an overstrike with a visible undertype, of flan and metal that suggest southern Latium or Campania unofficial mints, possibly in Minturnae, in 1st century BC, as documented extensively by Clive Stannard. These typically are found in the river Liri. Very small dies relative to flans are typical. Exact type or style not known to me. Interesting ."
