Riga - Swedish Occupation. Carl XI Taler 1660-IM MS64 NGC, Riga mint, KM56.1, Dav-A4596, AAJ-92a, Haljak-1560 (R). Variety with two flags on towers. An incredibly appealing emission from the Swedish occupation of this contested Baltic city, showcasing a level of preservation that is usually only dreamed of by collectors of the series. While this subtype is generally considered to be mildly more attainable than the single flags on towers variety, such a generalization can hardly be said to apply when the issue is located in such laudable condition as this--the next finest being an AU58 of the previously mentioned variety at NGC, while the sole certified at PCGS ranks as an XF40. Richly patinated with an aged stone-gray tone while more silvery pull-away tone accents the legends, we doubt that most bidders will have the privilege to locate a more pleasing representative. Mislabeled on the holder as Dav-4596.
