Willem I Proof 2-1/2 Gulden 1840 PR64 Cameo PCGS, Utrecht mint, KM67, Dav-234, Schulman-257 (not listed in Proof). Mintage: 44,376 (Proof mintage not recorded). A magnificent specimen of this one-year type with surfaces awash in a watery mixture of slate-blue, blush and champagne tones that mimic a stormy, summertime sky. The fields are remarkably fresh and offer excellent cameo contrast upon fully-rendered and frosty design elements. Spectacular in all regards, this Proof is virtually unrivaled in both technical quality and appearance, only a singular specimen ranking as a PR65★ Cameo from NGC.
