Frederick I "Seraphim" Riksdaler 1748-HM MS64 NGC, Stockholm mint, KM443, Dav-1729, AAH-89 (R), Hagander-427. Mintage: 209. In a word: breathtaking. Quite simply unfathomable quality for the issue whose very limited, one-year production run and pronounced high points often lead to at least a tiny degree of rub. Struck from lavishly polished dies to an absolutely radiant finish, it is hardly an exaggeration to say that the offering could very easily be seen in a gem grade, the details from Frederick's dress to the Order of Seraphim on the reverse are lovingly struck up in razor-sharp precision. Although mintage figures for the type are not recorded by Ahlström, Almer, and Hemmingsson or the Standard Catalog, Künker relayed in their listing from the Hagander Collection than a mere 209 pieces were struck.
