Switzerland
Zurich. Canton Guldiner (Taler) 1512 AU55 NGC, Dav-8771, HMZ-2-1122a, Divo-4, Hürlimann-422. One of the most iconic and instantly recognizable types of Zurich, and the first taler-sized coin produced in the city, this incredible piece features the figures of Zurich's patron saints Felix and Regula, together with their servant Exuperatius, who were executed in the city in the 3rd century. Lavishly produced and carefully preserved throughout, the surfaces maintain a charming original patina that only slightly mutes the coin's strong underlying luster. The legends appear just minorly doubled, suggesting a double strike that is likely to thank for the handsome relief present. Almost certainly the finest known, and difficult to imagine more attractive.
