Hadrian (AD 117-138). AV aureus (20mm, 7.31 gm, 7h). NGC XF 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. Rome, AD 133-135. HADRIANVS-AVG COS III P P, bare headed, draped bust of Hadrian right, seen from behind / FORT-RE-DVCI, Hadrian standing right, togate, scroll in left hand, clasping right hand with Fortuna standing facing, head left, cornucopia in left hand. RIC II 243 var (obverse head right). RIC II.3 2005A. Calicó 1262 var. (obverse head right). Extremely rare. Apparently the fourth known example and the only in private hands. Attractive hints overall red toning on matte surfaces.
