Louis XIII gold 2 Louis d'Or 1640-A MS62 NGC, Paris mint, KM108, Fr-109, Gad-59. "IMP" in reverse legends. A scarce Double Louis d'or exhibiting an equally scarce level of conditional preservation, only a single specimen in the NGC census certifying more highly. Satiny throughout luxuriously lustrous surfaces, with a hint of aged gold patina laid over the obverse and reverse faces. The strike yields expressive detail throughout, Louis' portrait presented with ample clarity, a feature which similarly extends to the reverse arms, clearly outlined and well-defined against the lower-lying fields at every point of inspection.
