George VI gold Proof "Coronation" Medal 1937 PR63 Ultra Cameo NGC, Eimer-2046a, BHM-4314. 57mm. By P. Metcalfe. A very scant medal to find in this large-size format, produced to a tiny mintage of only 274 pieces. One of just 13 certified by NGC, with none at PCGS, the surfaces present a charmingly reflective glow, a clear Ultra Cameo contrast preserved against the frosted devices, while just the most minor scattering of light wisps precludes a higher technical grade. Only the second specimen of this size we have handled, with a PR61 Ultra Cameo bringing $12,000 as part of our September 2018 Long Beach sale.
