British India. Victoria gold Proof Restrike 10 Rupees 1870-CM PR66 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM477, Prid-40, S&W-4.23. Young bust. By far the finest certified representative of this fleeting 'young bust' type at either of the major grading services, with the next finest at PCGS being a PR62, and at NGC a PR64, only one Ultra Cameo having been certified there. Evenly and deeply mirrored over both sides, the surfaces are remarkably clean for the issue, perhaps just a stray wisp or two detectable under magnification. Perhaps even more attractive than the David Fore example, and a piece that is sure to inspire spirited bidding from collectors who demand the best.
