Umberto I gold 100 Lire 1883-R MS61 PCGS, Rome mint, KM22, Mont-3, Gig-3. A generally fleeting type, struck to a tiny mintage figure of only 4,219 pieces, this representative presents a clear sheen of watery luster beneath a scattering of bagmarks in the fields. Generally not encountered in Mint State due to its natural heft and the softness of the metal, we would note that the highest numerical grade awarded by PCGS is only an MS63.
