Vittorio Emanuele III gold Pattern 20 Lire 1903-(M) MS66 NGC, Milan mint, KM-PnA5, Pag-172 (R3). A very rare type that is noticeably lacking in recent auction records. It appears that only a small handful has come to auction in recent years, and this offering, with its lofty gem grade, is likely one of the very finest of these. Possessed of an unusual appearance owing to heavily die-polished surfaces, and clearly well cared-for, with only the faintest wisps of handling establishing the NGC-assigned grade. It would be an understatement to say that this offering is bound to appeal to the most advanced collectors of Italian coinage. Mislabeled on the holder as Rome mint.
