Faustina Junior (AD 147-175). AV aureus (19mm, 7.24 gm, 11h). NGC Choice VF 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. Rome, ca. AD 138-161. FAVSTINAE AVG-PII AVG FIL, draped bust of Faustina Junior right, seen from front, hair waved and braided into small chignon at back, coiled in pearls, wearing stephane and band of pearls / V-E-NVS, Venus standing facing, head left, apple in outstretched right hand, left hand resting on grounded rudder; dolphin entwined around rudder. RIC III (Antoninus Pius) 517b var. (no stephane). Calicó 2097 var. (same). Apparently an unrecorded variant and quite rare, with only one other example in sales archives.
