Great Britain
William I, the Conqueror (1066-1087) Penny ND (c. 1083-1086) MS63+ NGC Canterbury mint, Manna as moneyer, Paxs type, S-1257, N-849, EMC-Unl. 1.39gm. +ǷILLELM REX, crowned and diademed bust of William facing, scepter in right hand held to left shoulder / +MIINII ON C [...], cross pattee with annulet containing one letter of PAXS in each angle. Seemingly a rarer mint-moneyer combination for this subtype, with the few other examples we have been able to locate being from William's earlier issues. Notably fleeting in this grade, while the bust and obverse features retain a superb level of detail and clarity. The reverse die in particular has been heavily polished over, making the legends somewhat difficult to make out.
