George V Proof Crown 1930 PR64 NGC, KM836, S-4036. Wreath type. Mintage: 4,847 (Proof mintage not listed). A very attractive piece possessing mellow silvery light gray surfaces, the color evenly distributed and most appealing. All wreath crowns are fairly rare in high-grade, largely owing to their use as Christmas stocking gifts. Thus, although past references have commented that the issue is common in high grades, few survived in such condition after their issuance, even though they were not intended for commercial use. Very few Mint State or Proof wreath crowns can grade 64 or finer by current standards. Coupled with their already paltry mintage figures, it almost goes without saying that locating an example in this technical state is quite rare.
