Milan. Philip II of Spain gold Scudo 1582 MS62 NGC, Fr-836c, MIR-163/3. 3.36gm. Highly elusive in this decidedly Mint State quality, and a sought-after issue when encountered so fine. Soundly struck, with only isolated traces of striking softness, the surfaces lustrous and delightfully toned to a warm orange-gold hue that leaves little to be desired. The strike is well-centered as well, with all parts of the legends contained within the confines of the plan. A lovely relic of 16th-century Italian gold coinage.
