South Peru. Republic 8 Reales 1838 CUZCO-MS MS64 NGC, Cuzco mint, KM170.4. A jaw-dropping grade for this iconic and often mistreated Peruvian crown, more frequently seen with heavy circulation wear across the devices if not cleaning and other damage. Toned over to a lavender-gray and argent with subdued luster and a full sunface, only one has certified a point finer at NGC out of over 150 graded, and we would note that this is the single finest specimen we have handled by several grade points.
