Republic gold 100 Bolivares 1888 MS61 NGC, Caracas mint, KM-Y34, Fr-2. Mintage: 32,000. Richly toned to a fiery golden hue, the preservation of this piece is undeniably Mint State, featuring shimmering golden lustrous expressed in an unmistakable cartwheel effect. Scattered friction establishes the assigned grade, and this is certainly the "norm" for the issue, which itself is anything but normal at this tier of preservation. A single NGC-certified example grades finer than this piece, and that one only by a single point.
