PARAGUAY: Republic, AE centésimo, 1870, KM-2, struck at the Heaton mint, Birmingham, PCGS graded MS64 BR. The "SHAW" that appears on Paraguayan coins is not the engraver 's name, but the contractor of the mintage, Charles J. Shaw. The coins were struck by the Ralph Heaton & Sons mint in Birmingham, England and the contractor was Shaw Hnos. & Co. (Shaw Brothers) with the order placed at Montevideo.
