A · DNO: FACTVM: EST: ISTVD ET: EST: MIRABI', ship surmounted by square-topped shield and mast dividing E and rose, 5.20g, 4h, m.m. crescent [over escallop on obv. only] (Spink 2531; Schneider I, 789; N.2005; Brown & Comber C35; Tyssen 1779[a]; Montagu III -; Murdoch II -; O'Hagan 114[a]; Carlyon-Britton 608), an impressive and an historic coin issued at the time of the Spanish Armada, struck with a moderately worn obverse die, otherwise satisfying original surfaces, good very fine / almost extremely fine, very rare and unrepresented in the famous Montagu or Murdoch cabinets.
