KINGS of MACEDON. Antigonos II Gonatas. 277/6-239 BC. AR Drachm (16.5mm, 3.83 g, 11h). Amphipolis mint. Struck circa 271-239 BC. Head of Poseidon right, wearing wreath of marine plants / Athena Alkidemos advancing left, shield decorated with aegis on left arm, preparing to cast thunderbolt held aloft in right hand; crested Macedonian helmet to inner left, TI to inner right. Panagopoulou Period IV, 68d corr. (O20/R66 – this coin, partial pedigree listed under 68a); HGC 3, 1045; SNG Ashmolean 3262 (same obv. die); SNG Fitzwilliam 2308 (same obv. die); Rhousopoulos 1177 (same obv. die). Attractively toned, flan flaw on reverse. Good VF. Well centered.
