IONIA, Ephesos. Circa 133-88 BC. AV Stater (19.5mm, 8.38 g, 12h). Draped bust of Artemis right, hair drawn together and tied in the back, wearing stephanos, single-pendant earring, and necklace; bow and quiver over shoulder / Cult statue of Artemis of Ephesos facing, arms outstretched horizontally at sides, fillet hanging from each; bee to upper left, EΦ-E-ΣI-ΩN across lower field. LHS 103, lot 121 = Leu 22, lot 132 = NFA II, lot 209 = Kastner 4, lot 110 (same obv. die), otherwise unpublished in the standard references. Scattered marks, struck with worn die and graffito in field on obverse, minor deposits on reverse. VF. Extremely rare, only the LHS example in CoinArchives.
