South India, Malabar/ Sri Lanka (c. 16th-18th century), gold Viraraya Fanams (5), stylised lion / 'viraraya symbol' rev. figure derived from a standing boar (Codrington 168).
This type of fanam was also produced in Kandy and used in Sri Lanka. However these usually contain less gold than the examples in this lot.
