The Vénus de Medicis was amongst precious works of art shipped to Palermo in 1800 to escape seizure by the French. However, she was shipped to Paris in 1803, where Denon saw that it featured on the medal. After the fall of Napoleon, she arrived back at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence on 27 December 1815.
