His laureate head right; ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P COS III / Victory advancing left, holding a round shield inscribed BRI/TAN in two lines; IMPERATOR II around, S-C across lower fields. Antoninus Pius took the title of Imperator twice during his reign, this second time for the victory by his governor in Britannia, Q. Lollius Urbicus, over the Brigantes. (Urbicus also built the Antonine Wall in Scotland between the Firths of Forth and Clyde, the northernmost frontier of the Empire.)
