An able general and strategos of Asia, Antigonos assumed the title of king in Salamaca, Cyprus and was crowned in 306 B.C. He was killed an the Battle of Ipsus in 301 B.C. at the age of 81. This battle ended any hope of reuniting Alexander's empire.
