UNCERTAIN EASTERN MINT. Imitating Athens. Circa 353-294 B.C. AR tetradrachm. 17.24 gm. 23 mm. Helmeted head of Athena right, with profile eye / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent behind; ΑΘΕ before. For type: Cf. HGC 4, 1599. Cf. Kroll 15. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 64. Extremely Fine; rich old toning with reddish earthen highlights; crisply struck (obverse crisply double struck). Choice and pleasing example. Contemporary imitation from possibly as far east as Baktria or northern India.

From an American collection formed in the late 1940's and early 1950's.
