PHRYGIA. Hierapolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Assarion (Bronze, 20 mm, 5.56 g, 12 h), M. Suillios Antiochos, grammateus. Time of Claudius, 50-54. Μ ΣΥΙΛΛΙΟΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΣ ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΙΤΩΝ Draped bust of Apollo to right. Rev. ΓΕΝΕΙ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΩΝ Hexastyle temple set on podium of three steps. BMC 11. RPC I 2973. Patina stripped and retoned, otherwise, very fine.

The reverse ΓΕΝΕΙ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΩΝ literally translates as 'to the dynasty of emperors'. Thus, the temple shown on the coin was likely dedicated to the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
