PHRYGIA. Metropolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Diassarion (Bronze, 24 mm, 6.32 g, 6 h), circa 200-250. IЄPA BOYΛH Veiled and draped bust of Boulé to right. Rev. MHTPOΠΟΛЄITΩN Φ/PYΓ Female cult-statue standing facing, hands outstretched. Imhoof-Blumer, KM, p. 277, 3. Martin, Metropolis 4. Very rare. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
The Φ/PYΓ was added to the reverse legend to mark the coin as an issue of the Phrygian Metropolis, thus avoiding confusion with the Ionian city of the same name.
