Rev. ΔHMAPX•Є•Ξ•YΠAΤΟC•TO•Γ Eagle with spread wings standing facing, head to right and holding wreath in beak; to upper left and right, stars. McAlee 673. Prieur 212. About extremely fine.


According to Prieur, the two stars shown on this coin are most likely to be identified as the morning and evening stars, which were worshipped as twin gods (akin to the Graeco-Roman Dioscuri) in a number of Arabic religions in the area.
