KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.36 g, 10 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, circa 324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔ[POY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; below throne, monogram above M; in exergue, club. Price 3639. Minor scratches and struck somewhat off center, otherwise, very fine.
