ISLAMIC, 'Abbasid Caliphate. temp. Al-Amin, AH 193-198 / AD 809-813. Dirham (Subaeratus, 22 mm, 3.00 g, 11 h), a contemporary plated imitation of a dirham from Naysabur. Citing the heir al-Ma'mun as Wali 'ahd al-Muslimin ('successor of the covenant of the Muslims'in Kufic) and as ibn Amir al-Mu'minin ('son of the Commander of the Faithful' in Kufic), irregular mint, after AH 195 = AH 810/1. Cf. SICA III, 2019 (for prototype). Nicely toned. Some breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
