INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Panchala). Uncertain. Agnimitra III, circa 2nd century AD. 1/2 Karshapana (Bronze, 10 mm, 0.69 g). Lamp flanked by standards, all resting on sacred platform. Rev. (A)GNIMITRA(SA) in Brahmi; above, three Panchala dynastic symbols. Apparently unpublished. Flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
From a collection of coins from Central Asia.
This small denomination is quite different in style and fabric to the coins of Agnimitra recorded by Mitchiner and was likely issued by a later king of the same name.
