TAPROBANE (SRI LANKA). Imitations of Late Roman Bronzes. Circa 5th century. AE (Bronze, 13 mm, 0.88 g, 9 h), imitating a 'Gloria Exercitus' follis struck by one of the sons of Constantine I. Laureate, draped and cuirassed Roman imperial bust to right. Rev. Two soldiers standing facing each other, each holding inverted spear in his outer hand and placing his inner hand on shield set on ground; between them, signum. MACW 5166. Very fine.
