Fr-4a; KM-84. A "lion" countermark (Type VI) on a Costa Rica (Central American Republic) Escudo, 1846-CR JB. The countermark is deeply impressed, causing a slight concavity to the obverse of the host. Both host and countermark exhibit attractive, well struck details and free of distracting marks.
