CRETE. Knossos. Circa 200-67 BC. Stater (24 mm, 7.40 g, 12 h). N-I/K-A Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. KNΩ/Σ-I/ΩN Labyrinth. Svoronos, Numismatique 177. SNG Copenhagen 381. Very porous and rough, but the designs are still quite clear. Heavily pitted and horrible, otherwise, very fine.
From the Trausnitz Collection, acquired prior to 2007.
One of the worst existing Cretan staters! A prize for a discerning collector on a virtually non-existent budget!!
