CARIA. Knidos. Circa 500-490 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 6.22 g, 1 h). Forepart of lion to right, with open jaws and outstretched right paw. Rev. Diademed head of Aphrodite to right, the neck truncation in the form of a pearl necklace; all within incuse square. Cahn 43 (V24/R35). SNG Copenhagen 208 (same dies). SNG von Aulock 2596 (same dies). An attractive coin, well centered, toned and struck from a reverse die of provincial Archaic style. Very fine.
