Karia, uncertain mint ('Mint E') AR Diobol. Circa 380-340 BC. Milesian standard. Bearded male head to right / Forepart of bull to left. Konuk, Coin M48; HN Online 1707; Winzer 13.1 (Hekatomnos); Traité II 2494 (Pergamon). 0.99g, 12mm, 9h.
Near Very Fine. Rare.
From the inventory of a UK dealer.
This type is sometimes suggested as an issue of the Karian dynast Hekatomnos, based on a reading of the letter present on the reverse of some specimens as a Greek E, but this attribution is very unlikely (see the note after Konuk, Coin M49).
