Hennin on Numismatics of the Revolution
Hennin, M. HISTOIRE NUMISMATIQUE DE LA RÉVOLUTION FRANÇAISE, OU DESCRIPTION RAISONNÉE DES MÉDAILLES, MONNAIES, ET AUTRES MONUMENS NUMISMATIQUES RELATIFS AUX AFFAIRES DE LA FRANCE, DEPUIS L'OUVERTURE DES ÉTATS-GÉNÉRAUX JUSQU'A L'ÉTABLISSEMENT DU GOUVERNEMENT CONSULAIRE. Paris: J.S. Merlin, 1826. Two volumes, complete, bound in one. Large 4to, 19th-century brown quarter morocco with mottled boards; spine with four raised bands, ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt; marbled endpapers. (4), xx, 705, (3), (4) pages; 95 lithographic plates. Binding worn, with front cover detached and spine covering coming loose; foxed, as usual. Very good or so. Still important and rarely offered. The worn binding is easily restorable, and doing so would be worthwhile. Michel Hennin (1777–1863) was the author of a number of works including his Manuel de numismatique ancienne, first published in 1830 and republished in an illustrated edition in 1872.
