Laskey, Captain J.C. A DESCRIPTION OF THE SERIES OF MEDALS STRUCK AT THE NATIONAL MEDAL MINT BY ORDER OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, COMMEMORATING THE MOST REMARKABLE BATTLES AND EVENTS DURING HIS DYNASTY. London: Printed for H.R. Young, 1818. J. M'Creery, London, printer. 4to [29 by 19 cm], dark blue half morocco, gilt; spine with five raised bands, ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Frontispiece; iv, (vii)–xiii, (1), 239, (1) pages [v–vi skipped, as always]. Frontispiece and title spotted, as often seen; rest of pages particularly clean. Fine. A large-paper copy, handsomely bound in half morocco, of this essential work on Napoleonic medals, written while the exiled ruler was still alive. Covering 141 medals, Laskey describes each in some detail and then gives a historical overview of the events being commemorated. The frontispiece is a striking engraving by B.-J.-F. Roger based on a painting by Jean Desire Muneret. Leitzmann 73.
