Very Rare 1854 Printing
Millin, Chevalier, and James Millingen. HISTOIRE MÉTALLIQUE DE NAPOLÉON OU RECUEIL DES MÉDAILLES ET DES MONNAIES QUI ONT ÉTÉ FRAPPÉES DEPUIS LA PREMIÈRE CAMPAGNE DE L'ARMÉE D'ITALIE JUSQU'À LA FIN DE SON RÈGNE. Paris: Delahays, 1854. Tall 4to, later green cloth, gilt. (4), 7, (1) pages; 74 engraved plates depicting medals. A few plates with a minor stain; final three plates with folded and discolored corner. Very good. A rare later printing of the 60 plates prepared for the original 1819 publication of this classic work on Napoleonic medals, and the 14 added to it in the 1821 supplement, along with a basic table of contents. Interestingly, the Castorland jeton is catalogued as number 130 and is illustrated on the first plate. Clain-Stefanelli 14541. Leitzmann 90.
