The Strange Claims about Gautherot
Vigneron, A.E., and Maria Mira Vigneron. CLAUDE GAUTHEROT DIT J.B. NINI: SES TERRES CUITES, SES BISCUITS DIVERS. NOTES ET SOUVENIRS. Paris: E. de Soye et fils, 1884. A bound photocopy of this rare work. 12mo, modern brown cloth, gilt. 13 leaves, including frontispiece and front cover. Pages browned. Fine. A bound photocopy of this (to quote Richard Margolis), "extremely rare pamphlet in which two of the descendants of the ceramicist Claude Gautherot claim, without any valid evidence, that Gautherot was actually J.B. Nini, and that he was the author of some of the Nini medallions, including 'Franklin petit, et grand module à l'antique.'" Margolis searched for an original printing of this pamphlet for many years without success: the present volume is his working copy.
