Margolis Correspondence: Guillard, Prieur & Schmitt
Margolis, Richard. CORRESPONDENCE WITH PATRICK GUILLARD. One bound volume (4to, green cloth, gilt) into which has been bound original correspondence received from Guillard, 1993–2001, some of it in the form of printed emails, and copies of Margolis's side of the correspondence. Approximately 83 leaves. Generally fine. [with] Margolis, Richard. CORRESPONDENCE WITH MICHEL PRIEUR AND LAURENT SCHMITT. One bound volume (4to, green cloth, gilt) into which has been bound original correspondence received from Prieur and Schmitt, 1995–2000, as well as copies of Margolis's side of the correspondence, supplemented by photocopies, printouts, faxes and photographs, much of it annotated by Margolis in pencil. Approximately 100 leaves, plus various inserts. Generally fine. Two interesting groups of letters, faxes, emails and other correspondence, mostly on the subject of the French Revolution and Napoleonic coinage. Much of the correspondence is commercial in nature, though the conversation is numismatically advanced. The correspondence with Michel Prieur (of the Compagnie Générale de Bourse) and Larent Schmitt (of Comptoir Générale Financier) is partly on the subject of their publication Le Franc, and specifically on their efforts to trace particular rare French coins of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras.
