The David Fore Collection
Coins of British India
Silver Early Proof Restrike 1/12-Anna, 1892C, off-metal strike in silver, obv VICTORIA EMPRESS (SW unlisted). In PCGS holder, graded PR61, poorly lacquered and a litte light spotting on the reverse.
The unlisted silver pieces were all bought by David Fore some time ago as one lot, strongly suggesting that these were all struck at the same time. Unfortunately, the box housing them was rediscovered after Coins of British India 1835-1947 was finished. It is most unlikely this coin was struck earlier than the other pieces, but you will note in the silver ½-Pice series, a number of different obverses were used, indicating different striking times. Most interesting!
Estimate: £500-800
