AUSTRIA, Salzburg (Erzbistum). temp. Eberhard I to Konrad II. 1147-1168. AR Freisacher Pfennig (19mm, 1.10 g, 10h). Friesach mint. Draped facing bust; abobe cross pommée and pellets; crozier to left; star to right / Three towers, each surmounted by cross pommée; above city wall consisting of pellets between two lines. CNA Ca6; Bernardi 3 (Aquileia); Biaggi 132 (Aquileia). Old cabinet toning. VF. Rare.

Though traditionally given to the first coinage of Aquileia, new research suggests that this type is in fact an Austrian issue.
