George II (1727-1760), Five-Guineas, 1729 TERTIO, younger laureate head left, plain below truncation, rev. crowned garnished shield, edge lettering upwards, 41.81g, 7h (Spink 3663; MCE 278; King 160; Stratos -), lightly buffed with evidence of expert repair on edges and above crown, otherwise a surprisingly scarce type, seldom encountered, but its rarity overshadowed by the more familiar EIC coinage of this seminal year of issue, struck details a bolder very fine albeit for adjustment marks through shield, scarce with only ten examples traced by this cataloguer at worldwide public auction this millennium.

Estimate: £8,000 - £10,000
