Prince Ghulam Muhamma Sultan Sahib was the last surviving son of Tipu Sultan lived from 1795-1872. He was the 14th son of Tipu, after the defeat and assassination of Tipu at Seringapatanam in Mysore State, his family was exiled to Calcutta by British Indian army. This two-page letter was written in English on an official letter head bearing the official logo on top of the paper. To mark a tribute, an important thoroughfare of South Calcutta has been named after him as, 'Prince Ghulam Mohammad Shah Road'.
