Anglo-Saxon England, Secondary Series (710-760), Sceat, Series J, type 72 variety, two crude diademed heads in profile, long cross on pedestal between, rev. large bird (eagle ?) right, looking right towards cross, encircled by crestfallen, serpent-headed, worm with beaded body, 0.80g. 30° (SL 19-20; Abramson, 2008, Fig. 8; 2012b, Fig 25b; SCBI 69, 397 this coin; T&S pp. 355-6, 303; Metcalf no. 29; Gannon 116, 137, no. 209, 160, 180, Fig. 4.11a; North -; Spink 802C) somewhat ragged flan with rougher surfaces, otherwise very fine or better, the Christian allegorical symbolism potent, extremely rare.
